One of the most anticipated movies of 2019 finally hits the cinemas today July 19th.
“The Lion King” a Disney musical drama features stars like Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has received mixed reactions with praise for its visual effects, musical score and vocal performances.
Beyonce voicing Nala in the movie curated and produced the album “The Lion King: The Gift,” which has been released today alongside the movie.
“I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa,” Beyoncé said in an ABC special.
Beyonce had on Tuesday released the tracklist for the album which features a lot of Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi, Yemi Alade, Tekno as well as Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale, South Africa’s Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly, and Cameroon’s Salatiel, are also featured on the album. Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Blue Ivy, and Kendrick Lamar are also on the album.
