Murder of hotel owner, Mrs Olusola and manager Mr Tunji by workers in Lagos

The owner of Etashol Hotel and Suites, Mrs Abimbola Olusola, and the manager, Tunji Omikunle, located on Budland Street in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State were recently murdered by some workers at the hotel.

Abimbola Olusola, who had lived in London, the United Kingdom for 35 years,  returned to Nigeria recently and opened the hotel for business in March 2018. It was learnt that the 56-year-old had issues with some of the workers in the hotel after discovering they had defrauded the hotel of money running into millions. Two of the workers were reportedly sacked after the police were invited to look into the matter.

According to the police, the deceased were tied up and strangled. Last Thursday, a gang said to have consisted some of the sacked workers and some still in the employment of the hotel, allegedly conspired among themselves and murdered Mrs Abimbola and Tunji.

They allegedly deactivated the Closed Circuit Television cameras on the premises, dragged the manager, Tunji Omikunle into a toilet, where his hands and feet were tied.

Mrs Abimbola’s body was first discovered by her 12-year-old son who went into her room to check on her before leaving for school. The boy was said to have found the dead body on the bed in her room after which he raised an alarm.

Relatives of the deceased said that the suspects fled the hotel, as family members met the lifeless bodies of the victims in the hotel.

May their soul rest in peace.
