The Duchess of Sussex came first place as this year’s most influential icon according to Lyst Index, replacing make-up mogul Kylie Jenner.
The annual fashion report which analyses data collected throughout the year to reveal the top trends revealed that Meghan, 38, has sparked a 216 percent increase in searches for similar items with her fashion choices leading to a huge influence over shoppers boosting sales in 2019.
Global fashion search platform Lyst collated data including sales, page views, global media coverage, and social media mentions to generate findings on this year’s biggest trends in which it tracked over 200 million searches from 104 million shoppers. The Meghan effect has become a common phenomenon with some social media users dedicating their platform to advising on recreating her looks and finding budget versions of items in her wardrobe.
The mother-of-one who was ranked third last year has climbed ahead of the Kardashian-Jenner clan to take the top spot. Kylie ranked as seventh this year meanwhile Kim Kardashian joined Meghan’s sister-in-law Kate, in failing to make the top ten.
The new mum beat the likes of Timothee Chalamet, Cardi B, Zendaya, Kylie Jenner, Billy Porter and Billie Eilish in the top 10 list of “power dressers.”
