JAMB Official who Claimed Snake Swallowed N36m faces court trail

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Friday, May 31, 2019, arraign Philomina Chieshe an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) who claimed that the missing N36 million (Thirty Six Million Naira) JAMB proceeds in her custody was swallowed by a snake in Makurdi, Benue State JAMB office.

During the account audit in February 2018 of JAMB’s Benue State branch, Chieshe could not make a propper account or N36 million she had made for the agency from the sale of scratch cards rather she claimed a snake swallowed the money where it was kept.

Chieshe was arraigned alongside five others, namely: Samuel Umoru, Yakubu Jekada, Daniel Agbo, Priscilla Ogunsola, and Aliyu Yakubu before Justice Peter Afen of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja

EFCC spokesperson, Tony Orilade, saidChieshe will be prosecuted on an eight-count charge as a result of her refusal to reveal the details surrounding the financial status of JAMB e-cards supplied to the Benue Zonal office between 2014 and 2016.

Chieshe’s action is contrary to Section 139 (a) of the Penal Code Law.
