On Monday, April 27, President Buhari declares a partial lockdown in Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja starting Monday, 4th of May, 2020.
The lockdown lift would allow Lagosians to go about their businesses from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm after which the lockdown resumes from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.
A lot of Nigerians, Twitter users to be precise have different opinions with the new statement made by the president.
For the motion
Some think it’s a good idea as they believe the economy cannot survive another two weeks of the lockdown. This is because Lagosians have been at home for one month and adding an extra two weeks will become unbearable.
They continued by saying that a lot of people are hungry and out of money to buy food to take care of themselves. A clear example will be the recent attacks from the popular #1milionboys. This is a group of touts and thieves who go around terrorizing, stealing, and robbing off Lagosians.
However, this feels like it’s just the beginning as the robbery will increase if the lockdown is not called off.
We all know the reason why President Buhari relaxed the lockdown is cos FG can’t afford to give every Nigerian palliatives, if you don’t need to work in the next 3 months to feed, plis stay at home, we are no where near our peak. It’s nosemask and Insha Allah now #lagoslockdown

Against the motion
There are definitely two sides of a coin. Those in support of the lockdown gave their best argument and now, here are some opinions against the motion.
Some believe that it is a terrible idea to declare partial lockdown in the state. This is because of the rising number in cases, especially in Lagos state, “the center of excellence”. The hypothesis of this case is that the number will rise exponentially if the ban is lifted.
Citing how countries like Italy, the USA, and others are battling with coronavirus with thousands of new cases and deaths on a daily basis.
Nigeria will not be able to recover or contain the spread of the virus. This they fear would lead to a state of emergency.
However, some are on the opinion that the government should provide palliatives if the lockdown is going to be lifted or not. Amidst the two sides, others have decided to turn it into a joke by making funny skits and videos.
