For many years, Nollywood has continued to strive for relevance but sadly the Nigerian movie industry has been saddled with a lot of hindrances to gain its optimum predominance.
In an interview granted on Sunday, July 21, 2019, by Nollywood actor now politician, Desmond Elliot, called for the federal government to ban foreign movies so that more attention can be paid to Nollywood movies to enable the growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry.
The 45-year-old lawmaker representing Surulere constituency at the Lagos State house of the assembly made this remark during an interview with HipTV. He made it known that he wants the government to be intentional about the film industry and handle it “like you’re importing rice” by placing a ban on foreign content.
