CORONAVIRUS: FG extends phase 2 of eased lockdown by 4 weeks, lifts ban on interstate travel


The Federal Government has lifted the restriction for interstate movement outside the curfew hours.

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari recently approved the extension of the second phase of the eased lockdown by another 4 weeks with effect from Tuesday, June 30, 2020, to midnight of July 27, 2020.

Permission has also been given for interstate movement outside of the normal curfew hours with effect from July 1, 2020.

The safe resumption of domestic air travel was announced also by the Federal Government.


In addition,  schools with only students in graduating classes, that is primary 6, Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3), Senior Secondary School (SS3) will be allowed to return to school to enable them to prepare for exams.  However, the PTF noted that daycare schools, primary schools, secondary schools and tertiary institutions are to remain closed until further notice.

The National Coordinator of PTF on Covid-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, stated clearly that buses are only allowed to travel at 50% capacity with the passengers during interstate movement and it is compulsory that they make use of face mask.
