The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announces 245 new cases of coronavirus in the country.
On Friday, May 22, the total number of coronavirus cases rises to 7,261 in 21 states including Abuja. Lagos state records the highest number with 131 cases, 16 cases in Jigawa, 13 cases in Ogun, and 12 cases in Borno.
NCDC records nine cases each in Kaduna, Oyo, Rivers, and Ebonyi while Kano state records eight confirmed cases, and Kwara records seven. Katsina state records five, Akwa-Ibom and Sokoto records three cases each, while Bauchi and Yobe records two cases each.
Anambra, Gombe, Plateau, Niger, Ondo, Bayelsa, and Abuja records ONE case each.

The death numbers have gotten to 221 as of May 22, 2020. Since the inception of its first case in February, 2,007 patients have been discharged and a total of 36,899 samples have been tested in Nigeria.
Lagos state still remains the major center of the pandemic having a total of 3,224 confirmed cases. Kano, FCT, and Katsina are following with 883, 447, and 308 respectively.
On the bright side, Kogi, and Cross-River states are still free from the virus.
