The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announces 216 new cases of coronavirus in the country.
On Monday, May 18, the total number of coronavirus cases rises to 6,175 in 14 states including Abuja. Lagos state records the highest number with 74 cases, 33 cases in Kastina, 19 cases in Oyo, and 17 cases in Kano.
Edo records 13 cases, 10 cases in Zamfara, eight cases each in Ogun, Gombe and Borno. Bauchi and Kwara records seven cases each.
Abuja records four cases, Kaduna and Enugu records three and Rivers has two confirmed cases.

NCDC used this opportunity to announce nine new deaths raising the number of deaths to 191. Since the inception of its first case in February, 1,644 patients have been discharged.
Amidst the rise of cases, the Lagos state government is considering the complete reopening of its economy.
Sanwo-Olu said the government is thinking of reopening the critical sectors of its economy; even though they won’t make such a big move speedily.
