The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announces 571 new cases of coronavirus in the country.
On Sunday, July 12, 2020, the total number of coronavirus cases rises to 32,558 in 19 states including Abuja. Lagos state records the highest number with 152 confirmed cases.
Ebonyi state is following closely with 108 cases, 53 cases in Edo, 46 cases in Ondo, 38 cases in Abuja, while Oyo state record 20 cases.

NCDC records 19 cases in Kwara, 17 in Plateau, while Osun, Bayelsa, Ekiti, and Katisna record 14 cases each in their respective states. Akwa-Ibom, Kaduna, and Rivers record 11 cases of the virus, 10 cases in Niger, and seven cases in Ogun.
Kano records six cases of the virus, Cross-rivers has finally joined the table recording four new cases in a day while Bauchi records two cases.

The death numbers have gotten to 740 as of July 13, 2020. Since the inception of its first case in February, 13,447 patients have been discharged. As of July 11, 2020, a total of 181,248 samples have been tested in Nigeria.

Lagos state still remains the major center of the pandemic having a total of 12,427 confirmed cases with a total of 1,897 recovery cases. The number of death cases has reached 172.
FCT has the second lead with 2,576 cases while Edo state has 1,731 confirmed cases, taking the third lead.
Oyo state takes fourth place with 1,726 cases while Rivers state is following closely with 1,368 confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, the NCDC advises citizens not to use a face shield without a face mask. According to the NCDC, using the face shield alone doesn’t prevent you from getting the virus from another person.
